Where do I even start with this. I was enthralled by the story of Nolan and Novah. The emotion that Leddy had weaved into this story had it jumping off the pages, twining it into your heart and not letting go.
We’re introduced to both characters when they’re teamed up to work on a photography school project together. Novah is your shy, innocent freshman and Nolan is the most popular boy in school. When she looks at him, Novah sees the boy beneath the popularity, and when he looks at her, Nolan sees anything but the shy, quiet girl. He sees beyond all that and finds the beauty without needing a camera. When a beautiful afternoon turns into something that they will both live to regret, the two youths find themselves torn apart.
Years later, Novah and Nolan cross paths again. The pain and anger of what happened all those years ago is evident between the two. However, there’s something more below the surface, an emotion they both keep hidden. The angst between these characters had me wanting to scream at them one minute, then chucking my Kindle across the room at other times.
I don’t want to say too much about the storyline, but the hidden message in this book is incredible. It takes you and pulls you along and you can’t escape until the very end. Even though there is romance, and heat, there is a lesson to be learned about judging a book by it’s cover, or for a better sense of the saying, outer appearances can be deceiving.
How deep can you love someone? What would ever make you stop loving someone? This story touches on such a profound message that I was in tears at the raw emotion that Nolan was dealing with, the agony, the pain. Then on the other hand, Novah had me in turmoil at some of her choices, but even through this incredible rollercoaster, I fell in love with both characters.
Another truly beautiful story by Leddy, this is my third book I read of hers and she doesn’t disappoint with emotion, angst, frustration, and a beautiful romance that will leave your heart filled.
