I have read Anne’s other books, and I loved them. I was excited to get the ARC for this. When you first start this, or even before you do, when you read the synopsis you have an idea of what the story is about. But let me tell you, it’s not what you expect or even think it is. This story is about Charleston Smith, but there is so much more to this than a love story.
As we get to know Charlie, we find that she’s battling grief in a profound way. There is nothing that can prepare you for the emotions that follow you as you read this. The journey that Charleston goes on in search of not only getting over a tragic death, but also in search of herself, forgiveness, and love. Even though she doesn’t know it yet.
In this incredible story we meet three men, #TheCharlsetonThree. Beau, the beautiful politician, Maverick the rugged security guard, and Dean, the ex. All three come into Charlie’s life at the same time, each giving her something she doesn’t realize she needs. Even though this isn’t really a love story, you find yourself rooting for each man for different reasons.
As difficult as some parts of the story were to read, because the emotion grips you and holds you until you reach the end, this is such a powerful story. You will need a box of tissues. Or two. The end isn’t what I was expecting, and even though it didn’t end the way I wanted it to, it was the perfect ending. Anne did such an incredibly beautiful job on this story that you will be awestruck, emotional, and completely stunned at how she completed this journey.
Thank you Anne for sharing a part of yourself with us, a very personal part.
Much love xo
